What the Magic System Actually Does

Valheim's magic system was added with the Mistlands update and centers on a new resource: Eitr. Eitr fills a third bar alongside HP and Stamina, but only when you wear Eitr-woven armor or eat foods that increase the Eitr cap. Eitr-woven Armor and Set Choice

Eitr-woven armor is the dedicated magic armor set, crafted at the Galdr Table from Refined Eitr and other Mistlands-tier inputs. The set provides significantly higher Eitr capacity than Carapace or any earlier armor, at the cost of lower physical armor value. This is a real tradeoff: you cast more spells per fight but take more damage when an enemy reaches melee range.

The three pieces — Mage Hood, Eitr-woven Robe, Eitr-woven Trousers — should be equipped as a complete set for the maximum Eitr scaling. Verdict: Hybrid is the universal meta. Slot full Carapace or Flametal armor plus Staff of Protection in the offhand.
