Nightreign Flask Economy Guide — Crimson, Cerulean & Wonder Tears

Flask Types and Effects
| Flask | Effect | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Crimson Tear | Restores HP (~40% of max) | Universal — every Nightfarer needs them |
| Cerulean Tear | Restores FP (~30% of max) | Casters (Recluse, Duchess, Revenant) |
| Wondrous Physick (basic) | Stat buff for limited duration | Pre-boss buffing |
| Crimson Hidden Tear | +25% HP regen for 5 min | Sustained tank builds |
| Cerulean Hidden Tear | +25% FP regen for 5 min | Sustained casters |
| Faith Knot Crystal Tear | +10 Faith for 3 min | Pre-boss Faith spell buffing |
| Strength Knot Crystal Tear | +10 Strength for 3 min | Raider, Wylder pre-boss |
| Magic-Shrouding Tear | +30% magic damage for 3 min | Recluse pre-boss buffing |
How the Refill System Works
Sites of Grace scattered across each Expedition map refill your Crimson and Cerulean Tears. Each site provides a full refill regardless of how many flasks you've used. The catch: Sites of Grace are limited per Expedition — typically 3–4 per Day phase. Don't waste a refill if your flasks are still mostly full.
The refill is automatic upon resting at the site, but resting also passes time. Each Site of Grace rest advances the Expedition timer slightly. Don't rest if you're not at full flask need — the time cost adds up across the Expedition.
After a Night Boss kill, your flasks are not auto-refilled. You must reach the next Site of Grace to top up. Plan your route so a Site of Grace is between bosses; or accept partial flask state going into the next fight.
Flask Loadout Recommendations by Class
| Slot | Recommended pick | Why / notes |
|---|---|---|
| Wylder | 3 Crimson + 2 Cerulean | Standard loadout; uses Cerulean for occasional weapon skills |
| Executor | 4 Crimson + 1 Cerulean | Burst damage class; needs HP for trades |
| Recluse | 2 Crimson + 3 Cerulean | FP-heavy caster; HP less of a concern from range |
| Guardian | 5 Crimson + 0 Cerulean | Pure tank; no FP needs |
| Ironeye | 3 Crimson + 2 Cerulean | Standard; bow skills use FP occasionally |
| Duchess (Duchessa) | 2 Crimson + 3 Cerulean | Hybrid caster; FP-dependent |
| Raider | 4 Crimson + 1 Cerulean | Trades hits; Cerulean for occasional skill use |
| Revenant | 2 Crimson + 3 Cerulean | Heal incantation + spirits = high FP need |
Flask Rationing Strategy
Day 1: Use 1 flask maximum. The Night 1 Boss should be defeatable without flask use if you've prepped. If you need 2+ flasks for Night 1, your Day 1 strategy was sub-optimal.
Day 2: 1–2 flasks used. The Night 2 Boss has harder mechanics; expect occasional flask use during phase transitions. Don't burn through everything; save 1–2 for backup.
Day 3: 2–3 flasks used. Night 3 Boss is the second-toughest fight; expect to use flasks more liberally. By end of Day 3, you should have 2+ flasks remaining for the Nightlord.
Nightlord arena: Use everything. The Nightlord is the final fight; rationing flasks here is a mistake. Drink the moment you drop below 50% HP. Cerulean every time FP hits 30%. Don't save flasks for 'after the boss' — there is no after.
Wondrous Physick Variants
| Variant | Effect | When to Use | Carries Over? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crimson Hidden Tear | +25% HP regen 5 min | Pre-boss for tank classes | Yes |
| Cerulean Hidden Tear | +25% FP regen 5 min | Pre-boss for casters | Yes |
| Strength Knot Crystal Tear | +10 STR 3 min | Raider/Wylder pre-boss | Yes |
| Faith Knot Crystal Tear | +10 FAI 3 min | Revenant pre-boss | Yes |
| Magic Shrouding Cracked Tear | +30% magic damage 3 min | Recluse pre-boss | Yes |
| Lighting-Shrouding Cracked Tear | +30% lightning damage 3 min | Lightning-build pre-boss | Yes |
| Fire-Shrouding Cracked Tear | +30% fire damage 3 min | Fire-build pre-boss | Yes |
Verdict: Equip 2 Wondrous Physick variants per Nightfarer — one HP/FP regen, one damage buff. Drink before engaging Night Bosses and the Nightlord. Wondrous Physick carries between Expeditions so the prep doesn't expire on restart.
Common Flask Mistakes
- Using a Crimson Tear when HP is at 80% — wasteful, save for actual emergencies
- Saving flasks for 'after the Nightlord' — there is no after; commit during boss
- Drinking Cerulean before learning your FP consumption rate — wait until you actually need FP
- Not refilling at Sites of Grace because 'I might not need them' — always top up
- Equipping wrong Wondrous Physick (e.g., Strength buff on Recluse) — match to class scaling
- Spending flasks on Day 1 trash mobs — they don't deserve flask budget
- Forgetting to swap Wondrous Physick between Expeditions for different Nightfarer mains
Team Flask Coordination
In co-op, communicate flask state. 'Crimson at 1' is a critical callout — teammates should drop aggro to protect you while you recover. Don't assume teammates are tracking your HP visually.
Revenant's Lord's Heal incantation can substitute for 1–2 Crimson Tears per cast. In Revenant-included comps, the other players use fewer Crimson Tears, freeing up flask budget for other classes. This is a major reason Revenant is meta in coordinated comps.
Don't all use flasks at the same time. Stagger drink timings so the team always has at least one player at full HP for emergency rez ability. A team that drinks simultaneously is a wipe candidate.
Frequently asked questions
Do flasks carry over between Expeditions?
Crimson and Cerulean Tear counts reset per Expedition (you start with 3+2 each run). Wondrous Physick variants do carry over — equip them once at the Roundtable Hold and they persist.
Can I upgrade flask capacity?
Yes. Defeating specific Night Bosses or completing certain side objectives in Expeditions adds permanent flask slots to your Nightfarer. Most Nightfarers cap at 7 flasks total (Crimson + Cerulean combined).
How long does a Crimson Tear healing animation take?
About 1.5 seconds during which you're vulnerable. Drink during boss recovery animations, not during active combos. Mis-timed drinks are a common wipe cause.
Should I use Cerulean Tears outside boss fights?
Generally no. Cerulean is precious — save for boss fights where FP-cost spells/skills are necessary. For trash mob clearing, use basic attacks to conserve FP.
Is the Wondrous Physick worth equipping if I never use it?
Yes — having it equipped (with the right Tears) ensures you can drink it pre-boss when needed. The slot is free; the buff potential is high. Equip even if you forget to drink — eventually you'll remember.
Can teammates share flasks?
No. Flasks are personal. The Revenant's Lord's Heal spell heals teammates as a substitute for sharing. Some other healing incantations may exist depending on class.
