Ore Locations — Where to Build Your Mining Base

Ore nodes (dark metallic rock clusters with distinct textures) are scattered across the Palpagos Islands but concentrate heavily in plateau and highland areas. The central plateau region (roughly north of the starting area, accessible after reaching mid-game combat power) has numerous ore node clusters within a compact area — ideal for placing a second base specifically dedicated to ore extraction.

The northern island areas near the volcanic mountains and the eastern cliffs also have dense ore deposits. These regions have higher-level Pal encounters (Level 30–45), so you'll need strong combat gear and Pals before establishing bases there. The investment is worth it — a mining base on a northern ore plateau with Anubis workers produces Metal Ingots at a rate that supplies your main base continuously.

Stone and Ore nodes regenerate over time in the world. Ore nodes specifically respawn on a timer — if you deplete all ore near your mining base, they'll eventually return. The respawn rate is slow enough that a large dedicated mining base with many Anubis workers can outpace natural regeneration on smaller clusters. Place your mining base on the largest ore concentration you can find.

Anubis — The Best Mining Pal

Anubis is the most powerful base worker in the game, possessing both Mining Level 4 and Handiwork Level 4 — the highest levels of any Pal in both categories. Assigned to an Ore Mining Site or directly near ore nodes, Anubis breaks ore at extremely high speed. A single Anubis outperforms three Digtoise or six Cattiva at a stone pit in raw ore throughput.

Finding Anubis is the challenge. It spawns in ancient ruins-type areas and specific plateau locations in the mid-to-late game zone (Anubis is typically Level 40+). Prepare high-level gear and Legendary Spheres before hunting for Anubis. Alternatively, breed Anubis using community-documented parent combinations — breeding offers a way to obtain Anubis at lower player levels through careful parent selection.

Once you have 2–3 Anubis assigned to your mining base, ore production becomes nearly passive. Combine them with high-level Transporting Pals (to move ore from nodes to the Furnace input) and Kindling Pals (to smelt ingots) for a complete automated metal production chain requiring minimal player intervention.

Digtoise — The AoE Mining Specialist

Digtoise is a turtle-type Pal found in rocky plateau areas in the mid-game zone. Its Mining suitability is Level 2, which is solid but not exceptional by late game. What makes Digtoise uniquely powerful is its spin attack — when commanded to use its special ability, Digtoise spins rapidly and mines a large circular area, breaking dozens of ore nodes and rocks simultaneously in seconds.

In practice, Digtoise is best used as an active mining companion rather than a passive base worker. Take it out with you on manual ore gathering runs: find a dense ore cluster, command Digtoise to spin, and collect the massive output. This method yields 100+ ore in a few minutes versus the passive rate of base mining Pals over hours.

For base assignment, Digtoise is a solid Level 2 miner that holds its own before you acquire Anubis. Place 3–4 Digtoise at an Ore Mining Site near your second base for reasonable automated output. The gap between Digtoise (Level 2) and Anubis (Level 4) is enormous in sustained throughput — upgrade as soon as Anubis is obtainable.

Setting Up a Dedicated Mining Base

Steps

1. Locate a dense ore node cluster on the plateau (bring a flying mount for efficient scouting).
2. Place a Palbox at the ore cluster location to establish the second base.
3. Build minimal infrastructure: Feed Box, Pal Beds, Furnace, Stone Pit or Ore Mining Site.
4. Assign 3–5 high-level Mining Pals (Anubis ideal, Digtoise acceptable early).
5. Add 2 Kindling Pals at the Furnace to smelt ore into Metal Ingots automatically.
6. Add 2 Transporting Pals to move ore from collection points to Furnace input.
7. Return to this base periodically to collect Metal Ingots from output chest.
8. As Anubis becomes available, replace lower-tier Mining Pals one by one for maximum efficiency.

Tips

• Place the Ore Mining Site directly on or adjacent to ore nodes for fastest collection.
• Upgrade the Furnace to higher tiers when available — higher-tier Furnaces process ingots faster.
• A dedicated mining base doesn't need crop infrastructure — bring food from your main base in bulk.

Mining Pal Efficiency Comparison

Verdict: The Level 4 Mining Pals (Anubis, Astegon) produce ore at approximately 16× the rate of Level 1 miners. The upgrade path from Cattiva to Digtoise to Anubis represents three major efficiency jumps. Prioritize getting Anubis as early as possible for your mining base.

Common Mining Mistakes

• Using Level 1 Mining Pals for your primary mining base long-term — upgrade to Digtoise (Level 2) and Anubis (Level 4) as soon as possible.
• Not building a dedicated mining second base — trying to handle mining and crafting in one base creates Pal assignment conflicts.
• Forgetting Transporting Pals — ore piles up at Mining Sites with no one to deliver it to the Furnace.
• Not staffing the Furnace with Kindling Pals — ore stockpiles without smelting are useless for crafting.
• Placing mining bases on stone-only areas — make sure the ore cluster contains metallic ore nodes, not just stone.
