Stardrop 1 — Mines Floor 100 Chest

The first Stardrop most players encounter is the reward chest on the 100th floor of the standard Mines (the mountain mine accessible from the northeast of Pelican Town). The chest always contains a Stardrop — it is a guaranteed, fixed reward rather than a random drop.

Reaching floor 100 requires working through the full Mine progression: Floors 1–39 for copper, 40–79 for iron, and 80–120 for gold. The mines reset each day but the elevator checkpoints (every 5 floors) are permanent. Use the elevator to resume from your deepest checkpoint and continue working downward.

Bring bombs for Floors 80–120 to clear rock clusters quickly and reach floor 100 in fewer sessions. The Stardrop is guaranteed once you open the chest on that floor.

Stardrop 2 — Skull Cavern (Desert)

The second Stardrop is found in the Skull Cavern, which is located in the Calico Desert. To reach it, you must first repair the Bus Stop — achieved either through the Community Center (Vault Bundle) or by purchasing the Joja Membership and completing the Joja development form.

This Stardrop is awarded for entering the Skull Cavern overall — you receive it from the opening chest when you first descend into the Skull Cavern, not from reaching a specific floor depth. So simply entering and descending one floor is sufficient.

The challenge is unlocking the Skull Cavern itself. The entrance is in the top-left corner of the desert. It is always open once you reach the Calico Desert.

Stardrop 3 — Spouse Gift After Marriage

Any of the 12 marriageable characters gives you a Stardrop as a gift shortly after marriage. This gift usually arrives within the first few days of married life, either left on the kitchen table or given directly during morning dialogue.

To unlock this Stardrop, you must raise friendship to 10 hearts with any marriageable character, give them a Bouquet (from Pierre's store for 200g) at 8 hearts, then purchase a Mermaid's Pendant from the Old Mariner on a rainy day (5,000g) and give it to your partner. After a 3-day engagement, you are married and the Stardrop follows.

Stardrop 4 — Krobus in the Sewers

Krobus is a Shadow creature living in the Sewers beneath Pelican Town. To access the Sewers and meet Krobus, you need the Rusty Key — obtained by donating 60 items to Gunther's Museum. After that, you can enter the Sewers via the grate south of town or the grate in the town square.

Krobus sells a Stardrop for 20,000g. His shop resets weekly and sells other items including Void Eggs, Strange Buns, and more. The 20,000g price is steep for Year 1 but affordable by mid-Year 2 with a functioning farm. If you live with Krobus as a roommate instead of marrying someone, you still receive this Stardrop from his shop.

Stardrop 5 — Old Mariner at the Beach

The Old Mariner is a mysterious fisherman who appears on the eastern side of the beach (past the wooden bridge that costs 300 Wood to repair) only on rainy days. He sells a Stardrop for 2,000g — one of the cheapest in the game. However, since his appearance is weather-dependent, you may not encounter him until a rainy day occurs.

Repair the wooden bridge as soon as you have 300 Wood to ensure access to the eastern beach. Then simply visit on rainy mornings and look for the Old Mariner. He also sells the Mermaid's Pendant needed for marriage proposals, so if you are pursuing marriage, you will naturally encounter him.

Stardrop 6 — Jodi's Cooking Quest

Jodi is Sam's mother, living at 1 Willow Lane. Reach 7 hearts with her and she will mail you a letter asking for a specific ingredient for a recipe she is preparing. The quest item varies but is typically a seasonal crop or food item.

Complete the request and she sends you a Stardrop in return by mail. Building 7 hearts with Jodi requires gifting her twice weekly — her loved gifts include Chocolate Cake, Crispy Bass, Diamond, Fried Egg, Pancakes, Roasted Hazelnuts, and Vegetable Medley. Gifting Fried Egg (cooked easily from 1 Egg) twice weekly reaches 7 hearts within a few seasons.

Stardrop 7 — Community Center Completion

Completing the Community Center is one of Stardew Valley's biggest milestones. You must collect and donate items across six Bundle categories (Pantry, Crafts Room, Fish Tank, Boiler Room, Bulletin Board, and Vault) — a total of 95+ items spanning crops, fish, minerals, artisan goods, and gold.

Upon completion, the Community Center is restored and a Stardrop is one of the final rewards. Alternatively, if you take the Joja Mart route (buying the Joja Membership for 5,000g), you complete the Community Development Form instead, which requires purchasing each project rather than donating items — also ending with the Stardrop reward.

This is typically the last Stardrop most players acquire, given the significant effort required for Community Center completion.

Frequently asked questions

How many Stardrops are in Stardew Valley?

There are exactly 7 Stardrops. Each adds 34 energy to your maximum. Starting from a base of 270 energy, collecting all 7 Stardrops gives you 270 + (7 × 34) = 508 maximum energy.

What is the maximum energy in Stardew Valley?

508 energy, achieved by collecting all 7 Stardrops. This is a significant improvement over the starting 270 — nearly double the base energy.

Can I miss Stardrops permanently?

No Stardrops are missable in a normal playthrough. The spouse Stardrop requires marriage (you can always marry eventually), Jodi's requires building friendship (always possible), and others are tied to permanent milestones. The Old Mariner's Stardrop appears whenever it rains and can be purchased any time.

Does the Stardrop from the spouse change based on who I marry?

No. The Stardrop item and its effect are identical regardless of which spouse gives it. All 12 marriageable characters give the same Stardrop — the only difference is the flavor text each character says when presenting it.

Is collecting all Stardrops required for perfection?

Yes. The Perfection Tracker (accessed from Qi's Walnut Room on Ginger Island) requires collecting all Stardrops as part of the 100% perfection checklist. It is one of the more achievable perfection requirements but requires marriage, Community Center completion, and several friendship milestones.
